So to keep the mojo going I decided to do more virtual races. Maybe not long ones but every step will help. May was about getting used to running. I am almost there. June will be about building my base and running. The weather will be warmer and I should be braver. The weather has been crazy this May. We had snow, rain tornado, and tropical storm weather, with a touch of dense fog.
Recently, I have renewed my interest in virtual races. there was once a time when I felt that they were just fake money makers, but things have changed in the world of running. Today, virtual races donate to charities, give out great medals and prizes, and help you with your fitness goals by having training plans. They have become true races.
Though, I still hear sucking noises coming from my wallet. RunDisney has perfected a way to sign up and run a virtual race.
This race is a Series of 3 virtual races starts from June 1 – August 31, 2018. Which means you sign up on the RunDisney website (see above) and make a donation to their charity or one of your choice, then you run. After that you log your progress on the progress area on the Website and download your Finisher Certificate. This year’s theme for the races is “the Incredibles”, that family of superheroes. These 5k races are short but they have big impact on your fitness level.

You must register for the Virtual Running Shorts Series to receive the Series medal, resistance band and hot/cold gel pack in addition to the 3 individual race medals and magnet frame.

The Charity this year is: the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.
Per RunDisney, “as part of the registration process participants will have the opportunity to make a donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. In addition, runDisney is thrilled to make an independent donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida in honor of runDisney Virtual Running Shorts.”
For doing these races you receive medals, a Bib a finisher Certificate and a magnet frame. As always, there are commemorative items for purchase at the Shop Disney website.
